Lea - client at the Opportunity Centre

Lea has lived with a brain injury since childhood and often felt misunderstood. When she connected with Traverse Independence, she was struggling and felt hopeless. With compassionate support from staff and access to the day program, she began her journey to sobriety and rebuilding her life.

Today, Lea is emotionally, mentally, and physically stronger than ever. She has goals for the future, volunteers to support others facing similar challenges, and credits Traverse Independence for giving her hope, stability, and opportunities she never thought possible.

Karen - client at the Opportunity Centre

After a motor vehicle accident left them with significant communication and mobility challenges, this client joined the Opportunity Centre seven years ago. Since then, they have found a welcoming community, built meaningful friendships, and participated in a wide range of creative, wellness, and recreational programs that have supported their recovery and personal growth.

Today, they describe the Opportunity Centre as a place of belonging that continues to inspire confidence, connection, and new opportunities.

"There’s always something fun and exciting to do at The OC and there’s nothing but positivity here. I’m so grateful that there is this program available to help in my recovery. I’m looking forward to see what’s to come next!"
