Attendant Care Workers / PSW's

As a member of Traverse Independence, you will work within an attendant care team.  You will be responsible for assisting adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI) and/or physical disability with activities of daily living, through booked visits or non-scheduled services.  Most clients we serve have a brain injury and with that can come some behavioural challenges however working alongside those challenges can also bring you a strong sense of loyalty and accomplishment as you support them in their quest to be independent.  

Basic responsibilities include but are not limited to full medication assistance, lifts and transfers, repositioning, bowel and bladder routines, prescribed therapies such as speech, physiotherapy, bathing and grooming, meal planning and food preparation, feeding, laundry, light housekeeping.  On occasion carefully monitored pet care is required.

Community Facilitators

As a member of the Traverse Independence team you will work in a low barrier program, building trusted relationships with your clients, which in turn will support them to access the services they need when experiencing homelessness, living rough or living in safe and appropriate housing. You will demonstrate the ability to work with some clients who exhibit challenges with mental health, perhaps addictions, lack of insight, executive functioning and other symptoms of brain injury.  

Additionally, you will be required to work directly with professionals, community resources, and other support people who are involved with a client as part of an integrated community team.  Community facilitators must have valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with proof of $1,000,000 liability insurance and a driver’s abstract acceptable to Traverse Independence.
