Orange Shirt Day
September 30th is National Day of Truth and Reconciliation and all Canadians are encouraged to wear orange to honour the children who survived Residential Schools and remember those who did not.
The color orange has become a symbol of the resilience and strength of Indigenous peoples and serves as a reminder of the painful history of the residential school system. Wearing orange on September 30 is a way for individuals to show solidarity with Indigenous communities, acknowledge the injustices faced by children in these schools, and promote awareness of the ongoing impacts of this legacy.
Let’s stand together in reflection, learning, and support.
