Discover Hearing Centre at The OC

The Opportunity Centre was thrilled to welcome Luc from Discover Hearing Centre for an enlightening session on the powerful connection between hearing and brain health.  

Luc delivered some truly eye-opening insights...did you know that untreated hearing loss can increase your risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer’s by up to 4 to 5 times.  

To help safeguard our cognitive health, Luc shared 5 essential strategies:
- Address hearing loss early
- Avoid smoking
- Stay physically active
- Maintain overall health and fitness
- Manage high blood pressure (hypertension)

Each of these steps helps reduce brain inflammation, a key factor in preventing cognitive decline. As Luc reminded us: "you hear with your brain, not just your ears."

He also emphasized the value of using the right hearing technology and personalized treatment plans to keep the brain engaged and stimulated.
