Traverse Independence is funded to offer caregiver support services through Ontario Health. We do this through the Care to Share series.
This free 8 week goal-oriented program, under the supervision of a clinical psychologist, provides the knowledge and support needed to better assist someone with a brain injury and, most importantly, the knowledge you need to care for yourself. The Care to Share program is now offered through virtual meetings on Zoom.
OBIA (Ontario Brain Injury Association) Caregiver Support Group
The Ontario Brain Injury Association’s online Caregiver Support Group is for people supporting an individual with an ABI and addiction or substance use issues. This group is based on the SMART Family & Friends (F&F) programs and it incorporates evidence-based principles of CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training). https://obia.ca/online-caregiver-support-group/
Monthly meetings to discuss how post concussion symptoms affect the lives of those who sustained the injury and those of their caregivers. Meet other adults just like you to compare notes, exchange experiences and tips, and help each other by giving moral support. Hosted through the Brain Injury Association of Waterloo Wellington in Kitchener, Guelph, Cambridge and Mount Forest.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 THE BIAWW HAS SET UP ONLINE CHATS TWICE A WEEK THROUGH ZOOM.
You can join via video conferencing or phone.
